Tutorial Two: Digital Camera use and applications

Briefly discuss this statement in relation to digital camera technology.
What would you consider to be asome of the pluses and minues digital camera technolgy holds in relation to more traditional film based camera's.


* Cheaper to operate then normal film, beause it is digital data and can be permantly stored and deleted whenever an indivdual wants.

* If sunlight comes in contact with a normal film, all data will be lost, However the same can happen with digital devices. A digital device can be damaged therefore all data can be lost, even from the hard drive.

List some of the ways that digital images can be stored transferred and manipulated using other communications technology.

* Photoshop is the perfect software for manipulate digital images. Photoshop has several tools that enables indivduals to change photos to their liking.

Given the prevalence of image capturing devices, and thinking about the issues discussed in tutorial one, condider what sort of ethical issues may arise with thenir use.

* Peoples images maybe manipulated without their permission.
* Someones image maybe manipulated and uploaded to internet sites without permission.

Briefly discuss some of the ways that digital images could, or are, being used in occupational therapy practice.

* Taking photos of clients homes for adaptaion, perhaps for funding reasons.
* Photos areb historical.
* Can be used as a training tool.
* Can also be used for storage purposes.

* Flickr.com is a webesite that allows individuals to store their treasured photos for friends and family to view all over the world.

Name one other photo storage website which offer a service similar to flickr.com

* Online communities such as facebook allow individuals to store their photos to share with friends and family.

Explain what the difference is between a digital and an optical zoom

* Optical zoom works just like zoom lens on a film camera, whereas digital zoom simply crops the image to a smaller size enlargens the cropped smaller pictured to fill frame again.

Explain what is meant by the term megapixel

* A megapixel(MP) is 1 million pixels and is a term used not only for the number of pixels in an image. But also to express the number of image sensor elements of digital camera's or the number of digital diplay.
